MDH moves to weekly COVID-19 updates
Starting Thursday, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is moving to weekly COVID-19 updates, providing data as of 4 a.m. on the Tuesday prior, unless otherwise noted.
MDH made a shift from its daily weekday updates, which it had been providing through the majority of the COVID-19 pandemic.
MDH reports it will continue to update its vaccine data dashboard each weekday at 11 a.m.
Moving forward, MDH is reporting on a variety of COVID-19 rates and trends. This includes case rates and rates of variants circulating in each county, hospitalization and ICU rates, and COVID-19 death rates, among other data sets.
For each data set shown below, MDH states “a 7-day moving average provides a more accurate representation of case counts by smoothing out any short-term spikes or dips that occur across a week as a result of external factors, such as a facility not being open on certain days or delays in data reporting.”
A comprehensive look at COVID-19 in Minnesota can be found at MDH’s main page here.
