MDH: 6 new COVID-19 deaths, 1,012 new cases
On Friday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported:
- Six new deaths from COVID-19
- 1,012 newly-reported positive COVID-19 tests
According to an MDH official, as of Wednesday, of the 664 cases that relate to the delta variant identified in the state, 71 were the delta plus subvariant.
Additionally, MDH said:
- Over 5.95 million COVID-19 vaccinations have been administered
- Over 3 million people have completed the vaccine series
- 69.4% of those 16 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine

Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported, as of Friday, 18 counties in Minnesota remained at a high level of COVID-19 community transmission. Another 46 counties are considered at a substantial spread.
