MDH: 33 newly reported COVID-19 deaths, 7,833 newly reported cases

Friday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported*:

  • 33 newly reported deaths from COVID-19
  • 7,833 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests

*Friday’s newly reported cases include some cases that were delayed in getting reported due to a processing error, MDH said.

Meanwhile, Mayo Clinic reported via its data page that the state’s average positive test rate hit 15.6% this week. Mayo Clinic reports the percent positive is shown as a 14-day average.

Additionally, MDH said:

  • 8.82 million COVID-19 vaccinations have been administered
  • 1.79 million third-dose and booster shots have been administered
  • 3.53 million people have completed the vaccine series
  • 72.4% of those 5 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine

Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported, as of Friday, 84 of the 87 counties in Minnesota remained at a high level of COVID-19 community transmission.

According to the CDC, counties in red have a high level of community transmission, in orange have a substantial level, in yellow have a moderate level and in blue have a low level.
