Man wanted for crimes in 2 states arrested after fleeing into bean field
A man wanted for crimes in both Minnesota and Iowa was arrested late Sunday night, the Blue Earth County Sheriff says.
Multiple agencies responded to a tip that the suspect of crimes in Iowa’s Winnebago County and Minnesota’s Blue Earth County -identified as 40-year-old Jacob Friedrichs – was staying at an apartment near Amboy.
Authorities say they stopped a vehicle that left the apartment, and Friedrichs then ran into a bean field, where he was eventually arrested shortly before midnight.
He is currently in custody at the Blue Earth County Jail for a controlled substance warrant, along with new charges of drug possession and fleeing on foot.
When the sheriff’s office initially asked for public assistance finding Friedrichs in July, he was wanted for theft in Winnebago County, and was also suspected of being connected to other crimes in Blue Earth County.

Authorities say they also arrested the driver of the vehicle, 53-year-old Valarie Lynn Hall, Sunday night.
Deputies say they recently met with Hall to warn her she could be charged with a crime if she was helping Friedrichs evade law enforcement.
