Man taken into custody, victim identified in Monday homicide in St. Paul

A man was arrested and the victim has been identified in a homicide that occurred in St. Paul Monday.

According to the St. Paul Police Department, 40-year-old Glenn Lee Rice was taken into custody by Ramsey County SWAT in relation to the homicide.

The victim was identified as 56-year-old Todd Gerleman of South St. Paul.

St. Paul police investigating fatal shooting on Larpenteur Avenue

According to the St. Paul Police Department, officers were called just before 7 p.m. Monday on the report of shooting on the 300 block of Larpenteur Avenue East.

When officers arrived, they found a man inside a vehicle who suffered an apparent gunshot wound. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police collected evidence and attempted to connect with any witnesses as they work to solve the city’s 33rd homicide of this year, which is the highest number of homicides in the past 25 years. Police said the city’s highest-recorded number of homicides is 34.
