Man killed in St. Paul shooting identified

The man who was fatally shot Saturday night in St. Paul has been identified.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 32-year-old Rashaad L. Van Pelt, of St. Paul.
Officers were called to a report of shots fired at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday near York Avenue and Cypress Street. There, they found Van Pelt outside an apartment building and began first aid. Van Pelt was later pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
Police haven’t made any arrests in connection to his shooting, as of Monday afternoon. Anyone with information is asked to call 651-266-5650.
It’s the 34th homicide of the year in St. Paul.
