Man in armed confrontation with police in Minneapolis charged with ineligible gun possession

A man who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound during an altercation with police Tuesday in Minneapolis was expected to appear in Hennepin County district court Thursday.
According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, 43-year-old Douglas David Peake has been charged with being an ineligible person in possession of a firearm.
The incident happened at about 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, when Minneapolis police arrived at a single-vehicle crash on the 2700 block of Bloomington Avenue S.
Officers found Peake, who was the driver of the vehicle. The situation turned into an armed confrontation and shots were fired before Peake reportedly ran from the scene. Officers found him hiding a short distance away and recovered a handgun.
Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension agents arrested Peake Tuesday night after he was treated and released from the hospital and he was booked into Hennepin County Jail.
According to the DPS, police body-worn cameras captured portions of the incident and the BCA is continuing to investigate. The BCA is then expected to present its findings to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office for review.
