A man is dead after he was shot inside a car Monday afternoon just blocks away from Macalester College in St. Paul, police said.
According to the St. Paul Police Department, the shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. on the 1700 block of St. Clair Avenue. Police arriving at the scene found a man suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle.
Emergency responders performed life-saving measures before taking the victim to Regions Hospital. He died a short time later, police said.

St. Paul Police Department spokesman Steve Linders said this was the third person shot in St. Paul in the past 24 hours and the city’s 14th homicide of 2021.
"We have to put a stop to this, and that means we all need to work together," Linders said. "We need to talk about who’s carrying the guns illegally, who’s pulling the triggers, and we need to share information specifically with the investigators."
Linders encouraged anyone with information to call the St. Paul Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 651-266-5650 or to leave an anonymous tip with CrimeStoppers of Minnesota.
