Man fatally shot in Stevens Square neighborhood of Minneapolis
Minneapolis police are investigating a fatal shooting Wednesday in the Stevens Square neighborhood, just south of downtown.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers in the area of Third Avenue South and 18th Street East heard multiple gunshots just before noon. When they arrived at the scene, they found a man who’d been fatally shot.
The victim’s identity will be released at a later time.
Minneapolis Police Officer Garrett Parten said police are canvassing the area, talking to witnesses and looking at surveillance footage for more information on what happened.
"We need people to talk about things they know," Parten said. "If you’ve seen some violence and have information, please share that with us so that together, police and the community can work together to identify, capture and hold accountable those who would put others in harm’s way."
Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers of Minnesota at 800-222-8477 or submit an anonymous tip online.
This is the city’s 68th homicide of 2021, police said.
