Man dies following shooting, crash Monday in Minneapolis
A man who was shot Monday evening before crashing into an apartment building has died, police said in an update Thursday.
The victim was driving on Franklin Avenue near Fourth Avenue South at around 5:26 p.m. Monday when shots fired from another vehicle hit him. He then kept driving east and crashed into the porch of an apartment building on the other side of the bridge over Interstate 35W.
Officers responding to the shooting found the victim with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to the hospital, where he died the next day.
The victim’s name will be released following an autopsy by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Minneapolis police are investigating this killing as the city’s 17th homicide of 2022.
The incident on Fourth and Franklin happened just 10 minutes after another fatal shooting less than half a mile away at 24th Street East and Elliot Avenue South.
Police have not announced arrests in either homicide.
