Man dies at hospital after north Minneapolis shooting
A man died at a hospital after a shooting in north Minneapolis during the Fourth of July weekend.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, on July 3 at 2:06 a.m., police responded to the area of West Broadway and 21st avenues on a report of shots fired. Officers were flagged down by people who had a victim with a gunshot wound in their car.
Officers called for an ambulance and provided emergency aid to the victim. Paramedics arrived and took over care. They transported the victim—a man believed to be in his 30s—to North Memorial Medical Center in critical condition.
The man later died on Monday at the hospital, police said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the man and others were outside on West Broadway Avenue when a fight broke out and multiple people began shooting at each other.
Two other men showed up at North Memorial Medical Center on July 3, suffering from gunshot wounds not considered life-threatening. Police said those wounds were likely suffered at the same location on West Broadway Avenue.
As of early Tuesday, no one was in custody in connection with the incident.
