Man dies after shooting in Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis
A man has died after a reported shooting in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis Thursday night.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, at about 10:09 p.m., officers were in the area of 26th Street and Bloomington Avenue when they heard the sound of a gunshot. Officers also received notification of a ShotSpotter activation in the area.
Upon arrival, officers found a man believed to be in his 30s in the road, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
After learning the man was not breathing and a pulse was not detected, officers began CPR and called for paramedics. The man was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said no one was in custody in connection with the incident, as of Friday morning.
The man’s identity and the official cause of death are expected to be released by the medical examiner in the coming days.
