Man dies after shooting at Eagan gas station Saturday night

UPDATE: Sunday evening, Eagan police announced that the victim from a Saturday night shooting at a gas station had succumbed to his injuries earlier in the day.

Eagan resident Faisal A. Abukar, 33, was identified as the victim.

A shooting investigation is underway in Eagan Saturday.

At 6:56 p.m., Eagan police responded to a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound in the 1900 block of Silver Bell Road.

Officers’ early investigation indicates that the suspect left in a vehicle, crashed the vehicle close by and fled the scene on foot, according to a press release. Police were able to apprehend the suspect and recover a weapon.

The victim was taken to the hospital and his current condition is unknown.

As of 10:15 p.m., the scene is still being processed and witnesses are being interviewed, the release said.

An investigation is underway. The Eagan Police Department does not believe there is a threat to the public.

At about 7 p.m. Saturday, a large police presence was gathered at the Marathon Gas station in the 1900 block of Silver Bell Road in Eagan.

KSTP crews on scene spotted multiple evidence markers, a running red car, and much of the area closed off in crime scene tape.

As of 9 p.m., investigators were still present.

The gas station is near the Twin Cities Premium Outlets and Highways 13 and 77.
