Man dies after Brooklyn Park shooting, police investigating as homicide

The Brooklyn Park Police Department is investigating a homicide after a 22-year-old man died from a shooting Tuesday night.

According to police, at 9:48 p.m., officers responded to the Nice Family African Market along Regent Avenue on a report of a shooting.

Witnesses reported that a male suspect was sitting in his car and opened fire upon the 22-year-old man who was walking in front of the store.

Police said the victim then got into a nearby vehicle and the driver of that vehicle drove off. Officers were able to locate the victim’s vehicle, driven by his girlfriend, and the victim was found unconscious. Officers said he suffered numerous gunshot wounds.

Medical aid was given to the man and he was transported to a nearby hospital, but after arriving a short time later, the victim died from his injuries, police said.

Police said they are not certain of the motive for the shooting and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
