Man arrested after authorities find active cockfight in Chisago County

A Maplewood man was arrested Thursday evening after authorities found an active cockfight in Chisago County.

According to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a residence on the 11000 block of St. Croix Trail on the report of a possible cockfighting ring.

When deputies arrived, they located an active cockfight taking place at the residence. 

While authorities were working to identify those involved, one suspect got into a vehicle and left at a high rate of speed. 

A deputy with the sheriff's office was able to successfully stop the vehicle and take the suspect into custody. The suspect – identified as Tou Yang – was booked in the Chisago County Jail. 

Charges of felony animal fighting will be reviewed by the Chisago County Attorney's Office against nine other individuals who were on the property.
