Valentine’s Day is filled with love, kindness, chocolates, and flowers, but it cost more to send flowers to that special someone this year.
Allie Tempelis, owner of Lexington Floral in Shoreview says prices are up around 30% compared to last Valentine’s Day.
Flower shops across Minnesota are still dealing with a flower shortage because of the pandemic.
“It’s more so that the wholesalers are having issues receiving flowers,” Tempelis said. “Airlines aren’t taking as many floral flights anymore. We can order everything ahead of time, but it’s still unpredictable what wholesalers will receive.”
On an average day, Lexington Floral has 30 deliveries a day. On Valentine’s Day, they had more than 200 deliveries.
