Law enforcement officials were on site at Stillwater Area High School Tuesday to investigate after officials received a report of a social media post.
Police were at the school as a precaution, officials said.
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS obtained the following, updated letter sent to families regarding the incident:
Dear SAHS families,
We appreciate your patience and understanding today as we’ve worked through a situation at SAHS. We have been working closely with law enforcement since the first report of the post on social media and at no point was there a legitimate threat to student safety. Our modified lockdown has been lifted and we have resumed our school day.
Many students have left the building and absences will be excused for the remainder of the day. For students who remain at school, we will continue with our regular schedule and buses will transport them home as usual.
When social media threats are made it is crucial that your child report any knowledge of the source of the post or other posts of concern to school officials as soon as possible. This allows for an investigation to determine facts in an effort to dispel rumors that create a more difficult situation to manage.
We take the safety and health of our students and staff is our top priority, and we will continue to be vigilant in our efforts to determine the source of these concerning posts.
If you or your child have additional information related to these recent social media posts or other related concerns please contact the high school’s main office at 651-351-8040 or the Oak Park Heights Police Department at 651-439-4723.
Thank you again for partnering with us to keep our students safe.
