LIST: Districts and schools moving to distance learning

Days into the 2022 school year, some Minnesota schools are shifting to remote learning.
Here’s a list of districts and schools that have recently moved to distance learning, plus links to their websites to follow updates:
- Students will move to online learning starting Jan. 14 through Jan. 30.
- Due to significant staff and student absences, Jan. 12 will be a flexible learning day for grades 6-12; Jan. 13 and Jan. 14 will be district-wide flexible learning days.
- Schools “temporarily transitioned to blended learning” Jan. 10, which is expected to last the next few weeks.
- Due to increased case rates and high staff and student absences, District 287 will move to distance learning for students through Jan. 21.
- Middle schools will move to e-learning from Jan. 14 to Jan. 21. The school will be open Jan. 18-21 for students who prefer e-learning inside the building. Lunch will be provided for in-person students, and buses will follow their regular schedule.
- High school students will have synchronous e-learning days on Jan. 14 and Jan. 18. Students will have an altered schedule Jan. 18-21. The high school will be open for students who prefer e-learning inside the building. Lunch will be provided for in-person students, and buses will follow their regular schedule.
- Elementary students will continue in-person learning. On Jan. 21, teachers will work with students as necessary to close the semester. Most elementary students will not have school that day. In-school childcare will be provided for families who need it on that day. Lunch will be provided and buses will follow their regular schedule.
NORTH ST. PAUL-MAPLEWOOD-OAKDALE
- The following schools have shifted to distance learning:
- John Glenn Middle School, through Jan 14
- Skyview Middle School, through Jan 14
- North High School, through Jan 14
- Tartan High School, through Jan 14
- Middle and high school students made the switch on Jan. 11 with elementary students following on Jan. 12. The district plans to return all students to in-person learning on Jan. 24.
PRIOR LAKE-SAVAGE AREA SCHOOLS
- Distance learning is set to take effect from Jan. 13 through Jan. 18.
- All students will learn remotely from Jan. 12-14.
- Both Armstrong High School and Sandburg Middle School are back in distance learning until Jan. 18.
- Distance learning for all students will start on Jan. 18, and extend through Jan. 28.
- The board approved an emergency proposal to shift all grades to distance learning for two weeks, beginning next week, and cancel school Jan. 14 to allow teachers to prepare for the transition and ensure that elementary students have devices for distance learning.
- Jan. 14 will be a “no school day” for all pre K-12 students. Officials said via a letter to families that “the chances that parts of our district may move to temporary distance learning continue to grow more likely.”
