Liquor store employee shot in St. Paul Sunday afternoon, police investigating

St. Paul Police said they are investigating an incident where a liquor store employee was shot during a confrontation with a shoplifter.

Officers said they responded to a report of a shooting at Park Liquors near the intersection of Hague Avenue and Snelling Avenue North at 3:45 p.m.

Police arrived and rendered aid to a man in his early 20s suffering from two gunshot wounds to the abdomen. The man was taken to Regions Hospital.

Witnesses told police that the man who was shot is an employee who confronted a shoplifter after they left the liquor store. The suspect shot the employee during the confrontation.

Police said no arrests have been made in this case and the investigation continues.
