Lindsay Whalen named to Basketball Hall of Fame
On Saturday the University of Minnesota announced that six-time WNBA all-star Lindsay Whalen has been selected for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
She is the first Gopher women’s basketball player to earn entry into the Hall of Fame and along with fellow Class of 2022 inductee Lou Hudson, they become the second and third Gopher players to receive the sport’s highest honor.
Hibbing-native Kevin McHale was the first Gopher player inducted.
John Kundla, another U of M alumnus raised in Minnesota, is enshrined as a coach.
Whalen won two gold medals with Team USA, led the Gophers to a Final Four as a player, and won four WNBA championships with the Minnesota Lynx.
The Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony is set for September 10 in Springfield, Massachusetts.
