Law enforcement investigating suspected carjacking, shooting in Columbia Heights

Law enforcement officials are investigating a reported carjacking and shooting in Columbia Heights overnight Monday into Tuesday.
The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office stated it was in the area of 41st Avenue and Washington Street to respond to a suspected carjacking and shooting.

Then, in a follow-up release, the sheriff’s office reported that the Columbia Heights and Fridley police departments responded to a report of gunshots and a speeding vehicle in that area, at about 1 a.m.
According to the sheriff’s office, officers found a man who said he had been shot after the vehicle he was driving was stolen. The man was taken to a nearby hospital and is stable, authorities said.
Authorities said no arrests have yet been made and that the incident remains under investigation.
