2 kids rescued from Woodbury lake, 1 still in critical condition
Two children were pulled from Markgrafs Lake in Woodbury on Monday night.
Woodbury police say a 16-year-old boy went through the ice on the lake around 4:30 p.m.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, it was determined that people had gone out on the ice to rescue the teen, and 12-year-old girl fell through the ice in the process.
Emergency personnel initially pulled the girl from the lake, who was brought to Regions Hospital. Police say she is still in the hospital but is in stable condition.
The teen who went through the ice initially was pulled from the lake sometime later. He was also brought to Regions Hospital, and officials say he remains in critical condition.
“It’s actually kind of scary. It was kind of shocking to look out and see all the dive team and everybody out here,” Holly Gander told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS as emergency crews were leaving the neighborhood.
Gander and other neighbors are now hoping for the best for the families involved.
“I just couldn’t imagine being in the position of these families that that might potentially have have, well, clearly, have gone through this trauma. It just, it’s kind of a shock, especially to be in the community,” Nolan Rahn, who lives close to the lake, said.

This is the second water emergency in Woodbury on Monday. On Monday morning, a bicyclist riding across Wilmes Lake near Schooner Way and Wynstone Drive was rescued after falling through the ice.
