KSTP's Matt Belanger provides update on recovery, prepares to return to work

KSTP anchor Matt Belanger reports his eye is continuing to recover following a recent assault, and that he plans to return to work soon.

"My vision is still a little blurry, but is improving," Belanger said in a social media post. "Even once my eye fully heals, I'll still be at increased risk of complications like cataracts and glaucoma for the rest of my life."

Belanger again thanked those who reached out to him with words of support.

"I keep replaying the moments of the attack in my mind, but hearing from all of the people who are supporting me right now helps me to keep my fear in check," he said.

Belanger said his doctors have cleared him to return to work. He plans to try to return Thursday.

"I'm really looking forward to rejoining my friend and colleague Leah McLean on the anchor desk on KSTP-TV at 11 a.m.," Belanger said.
