It wasn’t easy to do, but organizers of a children’s consignment sale knew they had to get the shop open. With families struggling with job-loss, wage cuts, and uncertainty with COVID-19, this year was more important than ever to offer the great deals.
It’s home this weekend was the Minnesota State Fairground’s Education Building and because of COVID-19 and state health guidelines, it almost never found that home.
Cristal Belisle, the organizer for the Munchkin Market Kids Consignment Sale, said they had to get creative and adjust their normal shopping experience.
“We do have a plan. We had to submit a COVID preparedness plan, and we really thought about how to make it safe,” Belisle said.
Adjustments include:
- Buying a ticket for a specific time in advance to help with crowd control
- No kids allowed at certain times
- Sanitation stations
- Masks must be worn
“It is so helpful for so many families that we really had to work hard to get it to go,” Belisle added.
The sale had essentials like winter clothes, boots, and hats — all the way to the fun stuff like toys and games. Belisle said prices this year have been great for families – especially for those that may be in a tough spot.
