Injured Waseca officer continues therapy, walking about 150 feet
The Waseca police officer recovering from a gunshot wound to the head is continuing treatment at an out-of-state facility, and is making strides in his movement ability, according to a CaringBridge message written by his sister-in-law.
According to the message, Officer Arik Matson is walking about 150 feet with the assistance of an exoskeleton device. The message also said Matson is working in "a little bit" of CrossFit into his routine.
Matson's sister-in-law said the officer is enjoying getting outdoors and was even able to fish in the facility's pond.
The message also thanks people for their support as Matson continues to recover.
"The outpouring of hope, support, and prayers have been incredible," the message read. "Arik is so lucky to have so many amazing people in his corner cheering him on."
