Increase in vehicle thefts, thefts from vehicles reported in Wayzata

The Wayzata Police Department is warning residents that an increase in vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles recently.

Police say most of the thefts have occurred overnight. They are taking place in driveways, parking ramps and garages. Some items noted to be stolen include purses, wallets and vehicles.

Authorities remind the public to not leave valuables in your car, including car keys and garage door openers. Lock your vehicle and your garage.

Police ask to look out for neighbors and call 911 if anyone witnesses suspicious activity.
