I-35W bus station grand opening delayed due to fatal weekend crash
A grand opening for a bus station along Interstate 35W in Minneapolis has been postponed Monday.
The event was postponed following a deadly crash in the area over the weekend.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported the crash happened Saturday around 7:40 p.m. when a vehicle heading north exited into the transit station at Lake Street and crashed.
State patrol initially reported two deaths but then confirmed Sunday the driver was the only person inside the vehicle.
According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, the damage to the bus structure was mostly cosmetic.
An Oct. 18 media event at I-35W & Lake Street Station is being postponed out of respect for the life lost in a collision at the station last night, and as the MN State Patrol continues to investigate. Look for service updates at https://t.co/1PNDRQCyfz and social accounts.
