Hy-Vee to limit meat purchases beginning Wednesday
Hy-Vee announced Tuesday that it will limit meat purchases at all of its locations.
The policy will go into effect Wednesday and comes in response to worker shortages at meat plants amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hy-Vee said each customer will be limited to four packages of a combination of fresh beef, ground beef, pork and chicken.
"We continue to work with industry leaders so we are prepared for any possible fluctuations in product and can best serve our customers," the company said.
Other companies have announced similar measures, including Costco. Meanwhile, some restaurants are also dealing with shortages of meat, including Wendy's, which announced beef shortages and limited menus at some of their locations Tuesday.
