Thousands of dollars' worth of equipment was stolen out of a trailer belonging to the Highland Park Senior High robotics team on Sunday.

Robotics team coach Doug Kamouch said the trailer was taken early Sunday morning from in front of his St. Paul home. He estimates $10,000 of equipment was inside.

While the team was at a robotics competition Sunday, Kamouch got a call that the trailer had been recovered. But when the coach got to the St. Paul impound lot, most of the equipment was missing.

"You name it, it was in that trailer," he said.

Perhaps the only saving grace in this situation is that the team's $4,000 competition robot was not inside the trailer. Due to a problem, it was taken inside the coach's home Saturday night.

Police say they do not have any suspects at this time.

The team has started a fundraiser to cover the cost of buying new equipment. It's raised more than $2,500 so far.
