It’s the season of giving and one organization is working to support senior citizens in the Twin Cities who may be overlooked, isolated or alone during the holidays.

"Be a Santa to a Senior" is filling the gaps and spreading cheer to those who need a little extra this year.

Home Instead in the Twin Cities teamed up with Lunds & Byerlys for the program.

You pick out a bulb on a tree with items that a senior wants for Christmas, then buy things on the list and return the gifts to the store.

"We have seen people cry just because they were remembered," Penny Thomsen, with Home Instead, said. "It’s just nice to give them a hug and let them know that we care."
