The Lowertown Saint Paul Farmers’ Market was more than just fruits and veggies Sunday morning.
Hundreds of kids came out over the weekend to practice their trick-or-treating manners before the big celebration on Halloween night.
Ghosts, goblins and little fairies went from vendor to vendor collecting candy as parents shopped the produce.
One mom, Michelle, told KSTP that they’ve made the Saint Paul Farmers’ Market a tradition with their toddler for three years in a row now.
“This is her pre-trick or treat so she remembers to say her ‘thank yous’ and ‘trick or treat’ when we go out and it just gets her livened up for the day,” she said.
Michelle’s daughter, Zoe, dressed as a glittery fairy and danced her way to a full bucket of candy in just minutes.
It’s a nice change of pace considering the last couple of years, according to the market’s director.
“It’s been two long years and it’s time to just come back to normal just a little where we can and celebrate life — and it just feels good to be out here and enjoying everyone,” David Kotsonas, the director of the Saint Paul Farmers’ Market, said.
Kotsonas said there is still plenty of produce available despite the growing season winding down because of the above-freezing temperatures we’ve had this late into the year.
