Homicide investigation underway in St. Paul’s Summit-University neighborhood

Police are investigating a homicide in the Summit-University neighborhood of St. Paul on Friday afternoon.

Just after 1:30 p.m., St. Paul police officers responded to the 600 block of Aurora Avenue after multiple 911 callers reported shots fired and that they believed someone had been hurt.

When officers arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. First responders arrived and brought the man into an ambulance, where he died.

Police say that the man was inside a parked car with another man and two small children when a small, dark vehicle, which officials say could possibly be an SUV, drove past the car and shots were fired.

The dark vehicle left the scene on Dale Street.

The other man and the children in the parked vehicle were unharmed; however, Sgt. Mike Ernster with St. Paul police stated in a press conference that there were two bullet holes found in a car seat in the backseat of the car.

Homicide investigators are working to figure out what led to the shooting and who is responsible.

Anyone with information should call 651-266-5650.
