The Foo Fighters is once again scheduled to play a show in Minneapolis on its upcoming tour.
U.S. Bank Stadium announced Monday that the Foo Fighters will play at the indoor venue on Aug. 3, 2022.
A spokesperson for U.S. Bank Stadium also told 5 EYEWITNESS News that the venue works with each event promoter and organizer to determine health and safety plans in accordance with their requests and requirements.
That means fans may encounter different COVID-19 vaccine and testing protocols for different shows at the same venue.
Xcel Energy Center confirms a similar situation for concert-goers at their venue, providing this statement: "The arena is a rental facility and protocols for shows are determined by each renter."
Target Center also handles vaccine, testing and mask protocols on an artist-by-artist basis.
"As a venue, we follow either local policies as they change or artist requirements as they come through, and we’ve been swapping back and forth as fast as we can," said Steve Sawyer, director of hospitality and event management for ASM Global at Target Center.
He said Target Center communicates the policies for every show at the time of purchase, with an email reminder two days before the show and digital signage at the door.
Sawyer said he understands the differing protocols may be confusing for fans.
"Every single venue is something different, and I do think that’s another thing we’re trying to make an effort for. A lot of the venues in town have talked, and we’re trying to get on the same page for as many policies as we can to make it as easy as we can for Twin Cities guests to come to an event right now," Sawyer said.
While some venues leave COVID-19 protocols up to each band or artist, other venues have their own policies in place for all shows.
First Avenue in Minneapolis requires full COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test for concerts at all of their locations.
Just last week, the rock band announced its tour included a stop at Huntington Bank Stadium, also on Aug. 3, only to cancel the concert a few hours later due to a disagreement between the band and venue over COVID-19 safety measures.
The press release about the Foo Fighters concert at U.S. Bank Stadium doesn’t specify any type of COVID-19 precautions in place, including if proof of vaccination will be required.
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has reached out to U.S. Bank Stadium about the COVID-19 procedures in place for the concert. Here is their response:
The COVID-19 policies and procedures for this event will be consistent with the Foo Fighters 2022 North American Tour. Below are the COVID-19 requirements for the event.
In attending the event you certify and attest that you and all individuals in your party attending the event will follow the below regulations:
• All fans 5 years of age or older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (at least two weeks after final dose) and provide proof of vaccination (i.e. original vaccination card or a copy of vaccination card), or have received a negative COVID-19 diagnostic test within 48-hours before entry to the facility and provide proof of negative result to security prior to entering the venue.
• Unvaccinated fans under 5 years of age will be required to take a COVID-19 diagnostic test within 48-hours before entry to the facility and provide proof of negative result to security prior to entering the venue.
