Firefighters extinguish house fire in Minneapolis; all residents out safe

Minneapolis firefighters have extinguished a house fire Thursday afternoon.
The fire department reported that at about 11 a.m., crews responded to the scene of a house fire along the 3700 block of Knox Avenue North.
Crews reported the fire had spread to the roof and firefighters worked to complete a search of the home.
According to a Minneapolis Fire Department deputy chief, there were six occupants in the second floor when the fire broke out. They were all able to get out of the house on their own. No one was injured.
The fire department reported the home has been deemed uninhabitable. The Red Cross has been contacted to provide shelter for seven displaced residents, five cats and two dogs.
One firefighter was evaluated by medics for over-exertion; no other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
