A fire raged Tuesday night near the intersection of I-35W and E. Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis.

The fire occurred in a four-story apartment building in the 300 block of 19th St. E. according to the Minneapolis Fire Department.

According to the Minneapolis Deputy Fire Chief, the fire began on the fourth floor of the building and spread to a unit below on the third floor. Both of those families have been displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross.

Authorities are working to determine the cause of the fire and attempting to allow some residents back into the building to retrieve belongings.

No residents or firefighters were injured, however, one cat was killed in the fire.

Editors note: Minneapolis Fire Department corrected a tweet saying that the fire was occurring in a two-story building. The fire is actually occurring in a four-story building.
