Fire weather watch issued for portions of northeast, central Minnesota on Friday

The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch for Friday.

The alert means critical fire weather conditions, including gusty winds and low humidity, are forecast.

Affected counties include: Aitkin, Anoka, Benton, Carlton, Carver, Cass, Chippewa, Chisago, Crow Wing, Douglas, Hennepin, Isanti, Kanabec, Kandiyohi, Lac Qui Parle, McLeod, Meeker, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Pine, Pope, Ramsey, Renville, Sherburne, St. Louis, Stearns, Stevens, Swift, Todd, Washington, Wright and Yellow Medicine.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says any fires that develop will likely spread quickly. Therefore, outdoor burning is discouraged.
