1 hospitalized following New Hope apartment complex fire

Officials say one person was injured during a Sunday morning fire at a New Hope apartment complex.

According to the West Metro Fire Department, the fire started around 7:30 a.m. on the 5600 block of Boone Avenue North.

Fire Chief Sarah Larson says one person was hospitalized for injuries but did not provide any other information about the victim.

Officials report that six apartments are gone, and nine were impacted by the fire. The Red Cross says they are helping “as many as 100 people” following the fire, which was raised to a third alarm.

Fire officials say when crews arrived, they found flames and smoke on the first floor, and they quickly spread to the second and third-floor balconies.

As of this time, Chief Larson says the fire was started by accident, however, it is being investigated.

The fire comes less than 24 hours after the department responded to the 5700 block of Quail Avenue North, where a woman was found dead inside a home that caught fire.
