Fatal crash temporarily closes portion of Hwy 62 in Richfield

A road closure was temporarily in place along Highway 62 due to a fatal crash in Richfield Thursday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash at Portland Avenue is under investigation.

In response to the crash, officials closed the highway between Highway 121 and Portland Avenue as well as the northbound Interstate 35W ramp to eastbound Highway 62.

The state patrol and the Minnesota Department of Transportation reported the highway was expected to be closed for an extended period of time.

Drivers were asked to find an alternate route.
