DPS: Authorities cite, release over 600 people for being on I-94 in Minneapolis during protest

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says 646 people were cited and released for being on Interstate 94 in Minneapolis during a protest Wednesday evening.
According to DPS, the citations issued by State Patrol troopers and Minneapolis police officers included pedestrian on a freeway and public nuisance.

The protest did cause the closure of I-94 between I-35W and Highway 280 until 1:23 a.m. Wednesday morning.
People in the group appeared to be holding signs protesting President Donald Trump and his administration but all of their reasons for protesting weren’t immediately clear.

According to the State Patrol, bikes that were taken during the incident are being held at its West Metro District Office. Anyone looking to retrieve a bike is asked to have identification, their citation and a description of the bicycle.
