An investigation is pending into an assault that injured three corrections officers at the Stillwater prison and the aftermath which involved an officer spraying a chemical irritant at a detained inmate.
According to a statement from the Minnesota Department of Corrections, an incident occurred Friday involving three officers who were responding to a complaint and ended up being assaulted.
Following the assault, an officer went back and sprayed a chemical irritant at an inmate who was "restrained and under control." Other officers then intervened, according to the DOC.
The three officers were treated at a hospital and released; one had a laceration.
