Death investigation underway in Bloomington

Bloomington police were at the scene of what they are calling a death investigation early Friday morning.

Just before midnight, police responded to the 7900 block of Second Avenue South after receiving a report of an unconscious person in the area.

Upon arrival, authorities found an unconscious female victim with "injuries consistent with an aggravated assault," police said. The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police later identified her as 26-year-old Genevieve Marie Skouge, of Bloomington.

Authorities said this remains an active investigation but they have developed "persons of interest" who were known by Skouge.
