Day 8: ‘Seniors Day’ at the Minnesota State Fair

Thursday is Day 8 of the Minnesota State Fair.

It’s "Seniors Day" at the fair, according to organizers. A reduced admission price of $11 for seniors ages 65 and older is available Thursday.

Additionally, early-bird specials will be offered until 1 p.m. on Mighty Midway and Kidway rides and games, plus merchandise and food vendors are offering special deals for all fair visitors.

At 10:30 a.m., there will be an "Outstanding Senior Citizens Award Ceremony" at the Leinie Lodge Bandshell. The award is given to two Minnesota seniors who have shown outstanding commitment to community service since reaching the age of 65.

Starting at 9 a.m. at Dan Patch Park, UCare kicks off an all-day program with live ’60s-’80s music from The Pearl Brothers that will continue throughout the afternoon. Then, starting at 10 a.m., fair visitors can stop by for giveaways and fitness programs throughout the day.

Then, the "Celebrity Butter Carving Contest" is set to take place at 12:20 p.m. on the Moo Stage outside the Cattle Barn.

The Chainsmokers will perform with special guest GASHI at 7:30 p.m. at the Grandstand.

The fair lasts until Labor Day, Sept. 6. and tickets can be brought online or at the fair.
