Day 7: ‘Kids Day’ at the state fair

Wednesday is Day 7 of the Minnesota State Fair.

It’s "Kids Day" at the fair, according to organizers. A reduced admission price of $11 for kids ages 5-12 is available Wednesday.

Additionally, there are all-day specials on Mighty Midway and Kidway rides and games.

here will be cooking demonstrations from Minnesota author Patrice Johnson at various times between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. at the Cambria Kitchen in the Creative Activities Building.

Meanwhile, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Pet Pavilion, kids have the opportunity to participate in the "Read to a Breed" event offered by North Star Therapy Animals. Volunteers of the organization are trained in therapy animal reading programs for children.

An Open Class Rooster Crowing Contest is taking place in the Poultry Barn at 11 a.m., and the 4-H Llama-Alpaca Costume Competition is taking place at 6 p.m. in the Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum.

At 6 p.m., there’s a Professional Floral Designer of the Year Competition in the Agriculture-Horticulture Building.

Tim McGraw will perform with special guest Midland at 7:30 p.m. at the Grandstand.

The fair lasts until Labor Day, Sept. 6. and tickets can be brought online or at the fair.
