Fire damages storage units in Apple Valley

UPDATE 9:10 a.m.: Multiple units at the Public Storage business in Apple Valley were damaged by an overnight fire Wednesday.

Around 4 a.m., crews with the Apple Valley Fire Department were called to Public Storage, located near Foliage Avenue and 151st Street, for a report of a fire.

Chief Chuck Russell says flames from a single unit “to several others” before crews were able to extinguish the fire.

Due to security measures, firefighters had to use rotary saws to open the units’ garage doors in order to access the fires.

No one was injured.

As of this time, the cause of the fire is still being investigated.

INITIAL REPORT: No details have been released so far about an overnight fire at an Apple Valley storage facility Wednesday.

The fire started just before 4 a.m. off 151st Street West and Foliage Avenue at what appeared to be the Public Storage business.

A 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS photographer was at the scene and saw heavy smoke coming from the area.

No word if anyone was injured.
