Authorities were at the scene of a bridge rescue in Minnetonka early Tuesday.

A 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS crew at the scene captured video of authorities rescuing a person from below the Highway 62 bridge.

According to Eden Prairie police, the incident first began with a traffic stop on Interstate 494 near Valley View Road at about 3:30 a.m. When an officer approached the stopped vehicle, the officer noticed an open alcohol container.

The driver then sped away and a police pursuit began.

On eastbound Highway 62, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed between Beach and Rowland roads.

The driver then reportedly got out the vehicle and jumped off the highway’s bridge into Nine Mile Creek.

Officers rescued the driver and he was treated at the scene before an ambulance transported him to a nearby hospital.

An investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
