The man charged with murder after a woman was found beheaded in Shakopee made his first appearance in court Monday.

Alexis Saborit, 42, made his court appearance at 8:30 a.m.

During the appearance, conditions for Saborit’s release were established in the event he were to post bail. A bail hearing was held last month with his bail set at $2.5 million. Saborit remains in custody in the Scott County Jail, as of Monday morning.

Court documents show Saborit admitted to using a knife to kill 55-year-old America Thayer when she tried to break up with him.

Saborit’s next scheduled appearance is in October, according to court documents.
