A road closure due to a crash in Maple Plain has been lifted, officials at the scene stated.
KSTP Traffic Reporter Josie Smith said County Road 6 was shut down between County Road 90 and County Road 19 just after 5 a.m. due to the crash. The road reopened at about 7 a.m., Smith said.
Smith said County Road 6 is the detour for a current closure along Highway 12, between Orono and Independence, for a safety improvement project.
An official at the scene told Smith a driver reportedly fell asleep and crashed into traffic signals that had been set up to manage traffic flow due to County Road 6 being a detour route for Highway 12.
Officials had asked drivers to avoid the area near the crash scene along County Road 6.
Smith said one alternate route option to avoid the scene would be Highway 55.
