Closures begin Tuesday for section of southbound I-494 in Woodbury

Closures will begin Tuesday on southbound I-494 between Tamarack and Lake roads in Woodbury, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) said.

Beginning May 31, the interstate portion will be reduced to one lane nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The next day, the stretch of roadway will be reduced to two lanes daily from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. as crews repair pavement.

A full closure between I-94 and Lake Road will run from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from June 3-6. MnDOT will direct southbound I-494 traffic on a detour to Highway 61.

The department reminds drivers that construction schedules can be affected by things like weather, however, the project is expected to end by June 15.

Motorists should be attentive and cautious in work areas.
