Police: Brooklyn Park shooting a result of ‘money owed for marijuana sales’
UPDATE: Brooklyn Park Police say they have learned that the Tuesday night shooting occurred as a result of money owed for marijuana sales.
At the time the first report was posted, the victim was said to be in critical condition after undergoing surgery for a gunshot wound to the stomach.
Police say there is no other information available as of 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
The investigation is ongoing.
INITIAL REPORT: One person remains in critical condition Wednesday morning after a shooting Brooklyn Park Police say they believe isn’t random.
Officers say they received information just after 6 p.m. Tuesday that a shooting victim had been driven to the hospital.
The victim was rushed into surgery after being shot in the stomach, and police say they were able to gain more insight after the surgery.
According to Brooklyn Park police, the shooting happened around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday in the common outdoor area of an apartment complex on the 5800 block of 73rd Avenue North.
Early information leads police to believe the suspect and victim knew each another.
Police say they haven’t found evidence from the area where they believe the incident occurred, although the area was searched.
Authorities are still investigating.
