Boy found dead near Battle Lake apparently attacked by dog

Sheriff’s officials say a 14-year-old boy found dead in Otter Tail County apparently was attacked by a dog, according to sheriff’s officials.

Deputies responded to a residence near Battle Lake Thursday afternoon and found the boy deceased in the yard.

Officials say the dog, a German shepherd, was extremely aggressive when deputies arrived on the scene and was put down at the request of the family and for public safety.

According to the Sheriff’s office, they breed dogs at the house where the attack occurred and there were three at the home at the time of the attack.

The boy had allegedly walked the dogs around 1 p.m. but the sheriff’s office is not sure exactly when the attack occurred.

The attacking dog came from Poland 6 months ago and was three years old.

The Otter Tail County Coroner’s Office is assisting the sheriff’s office with the investigation.

The boy’s identity has not been released.
